Lukas cursed bitterly as he eased up onto his forearms. Where those invisible hands, cold as those that belonged in Jötunheimr, had touched him, the skin tingled as if frost burnt. Sweat glistened on his forehead, further chilling his already cold body, and Norway rested his hot head down upon the floor while the throb in his skull ebbed away.
When he had been attacked, Lukas had been alone still, wondering the halls aimlessly, save to locate another country, or more importantly, one of the other Nordics or his brother. He had no warning; Alv hadn’t even alerted him…. Alv. At the thought of the troll, Lukas jerked up in slight panic in subtle fear that he had left his friend behind. His eyes searched the darkness, until glowing white eyes full of warmth stared down at him, the eyes of a troll.
Norway relaxed with a silent sigh of relief. When the hands had overtaken him, his legs had been knocked out from under him and he had hit his hard upon the floor. The journey from where he had been to this…. Room that he was in now had been a blurry one as he fought against losing consciousness. He still hadn’t regained his strength… perhaps he never would until he got out of this place.
A small groan escaped past his lips as he eased his weight up off his arms and shifted himself into a sitting position. His hand fell to his belt, good. His sword still remained in its sheath. You didn’t have to be a country for him to know that without his sword, he would surely perish in this house.
Then, there came a sound from the sound from the other side of the room; Norway froze. Raising his head to see above a felled over chair near him, he watched as a figure shifted and moved. In the state he had been in when he was brought into the room, he didn’t recall any other person joining him but he couldn’t be positive. For all he knew, the frost giant hands could return to finish what they had started.
Smoothly, Lukas rose to his feet, his eyes narrowed into a deadly scowl. Eyeing the figure with a warrior-like focus, he edged forward, his hand already silently sliding his sword from its sheath. Then he saw it, a head of blond hair and he hesitated.
Blinking, Lukas registered that sight of the other country below him and sighed. This place was truly trying to kill him. Slamming the sword’s hilt back into the scabbard, Lukas raised his hand to his face and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Av gudene….” The words were swallowed by a moan in his throat. “Polen”.
Before he could speak another word, a grumble by Alv turned his attention towards the far wall. Suddenly, the lights in the room all turned on simultaneously sending shards of light into Norway’s eyes, burning them.
Steadily, Lukas’ stoic eyes changed from their usual appearance, to surprise, into another death scowl as a pair of figures appeared out of thin air in the larger vicinity of the room. At their arrival, Norway completely drew his blade and his entire body tensed as the twin reapers began to speak.

Ice-cold were the fingers, bone cold. Gripping his wrists and neck, causing the skin on not only his arms to form goosebumps, but his legs as well, the chill seemingly seeping into his very blood. This almost frozen feeling wasn't unfamiliar to him, but it had certainly been some time, and that had come as quite a shock and a rude awakening. It was no surprise that he had let out a cry of surprise and (though he wouldn't easily admit it) fear at the jolting yank from the freezing hands, and struggled with all his might against what seemed like a drug, making his vision go fuzzy and Feliks ultimately pass out.
How long had he been out for? What had even caused him to become unconscious in the first place? He could only remember the cold and a sinister aura; something that normally, he'd quickly associate with the brute of a Russian Ivan. Yet, it didn't feel the same; somehow, it was even worse. And worse than Ivan was an impressive and difficult feat.
Poland felt stiff and cold and sore from lying on the floor and wasted no time rolling onto his back, as his cheek had been lying on the freezing surface and likely numb. He felt so old as he let out a pained, rather aged-sounding moan while repositioning himself and closing his eyes again in an attempt to fall back asleep, despite his uncontrollable shivering. He didn't want to be there, and maybe if he closed his eyes again, he'd be moved into a bed this time?
Then he heard a voice from above. Not the "heavenly" above, actually, the voice seemed quite the opposite in its tone. Feliks heard something in a rough, almost coarse-sounding tongue then his name, which sounded a lot like German. He knew it wasn't, though, and opened his eyes reluctantly to answer the other. Blinking blearily as if he'd slept quite deeply and for a long time, he barely managed to heave himself up into a sitting position to inspect the man more closely.
He was taller than himself, though that was obvious from the sheer fact he wasn't standing, and blond. That narrowed it down to just about everyone. Poland had just managed to pull himself up to properly identify the other person when the lights suddenly flicked on, making him let out a little whine and cover his face at the pain and suddenness of the brightness.
Only at the sound of other voices, ones eerily similar to the hands from before, did he open his eyes and put down his arms to tense in slight terror at the vision of death itself standing before him. He only allowed himself a split second to take his eyes off the cloaked figures to look at his companion, the grumpiest of the Nordic nations, before taking in the warning of the reapers.

Post by The Second Inhabitant on Jan 4, 2012 18:48:30 GMT -6
The Second Inhabitant eased down the hall, almost at a leisurely pace. He was in no real rush. The humans always became edgier if they were forced to wait, and the master simply loved a show. His hovered along, finding no need to grace the dirty floorboard with his bony toes. After all, humans had touched it. Being so much more than these mere mortal, the Second Inhabitant turned unexpectedly, facing the pasty wallpapered wall.
However, movement caught his eye. "Brother? Ah, care to join me frighten these doomed souls?" the one offered to the incoming other, who readily agreed.
"Yes. It always gives me pleasure seeing these useless creature writhe and squirm like maggots. You may do the honor, brother of mine."
The two Inhabitants fazed through the wall, triggering the flash of illuminating lights. For such a decrepit mansion, the lights were always bright and vivid. After all, they didn't want the master to miss out of the gory details of it all, now did they? Watching the creatures recoil to light was amusing. Such a thing could not hurt them, yet they still flinched. What miserable beings. Hopefully they would put up some sort of fight. Easy prey was not exactly the most amusing of sports. The master wanted a gory battle to the death, not some sad feasting. Ah well, he would have to settle.
The Second Inhabitant took a quick survey of the newest victims. One was challenging him? He had to hold back rough laughter. Foolish human, for it could not dream of inflicting a single scratch on him. The Inhabitant looked forward to watching that one fight. The other though, was scrawny and seemed pathetic. Now the Inhabitant understood. The master wanted to see a sacrifice. The one seemed battle ready, the other seemed weak. Perhaps, in this game, they'd see a turning point. Maybe the monster bestowed could force the one human to abandon the other. Regardless, the Inhabitant had a message to deliver, and it could not wait.
"Welcome honored guests, allow me to introduce myself. You may call me the Second Inhabitant, and beside me is my brother, the First Inhabitant. I have been explicitly instructed to meet you personally and inform you of a game that my master has arranged especially for you”.
A ghoulish smile came to the being's lips, though neither human would be able to tell. His face was shrouded in shadows. He paused dramatically, letting the words steep into the humans like flavor settling into food. Opening his arms again, the Second Inhabitant allowed his cloak to billow as he prepared his next explanation.
“The game is simple: survive. In mere moments you will be joined by a selected ‘pet’ that inhabits these halls and what happens next… is entirely up to you”.
He retrieved his arms, before waving one in temptation of the hot tempered blond. “This lovely game has no time limit, no rules save for this: either kill or be killed”.
With a deep, menacing laugh, the two Inhabitants shrank back, their billowing cloaks fluttering in the invisible wind. Leaving the statement to echo around the room, the one Inhabitant grinned maliciously. How cruel the master was, to place them against such a conniving monster in a library. The perfect scenario to split them apart.
Stretching his arm out towards the door, the Second Inhabitant announced, “Without further delay, I present to you your opponent!" Pausing, the reaper dipped a fleshless hand into the folds of his robes and drew out an object, which he continued to toss to the space in between the two nations. It was nothing more than a silver pocket watch. "May I introduce, the Raven Walker, Mystalickala! Let the game’s begin!”
With a twist, the door slid open to reveal a figure resembling femininity, with dark wings, limbs of a bird, and a long beak extending from her forehead. She stepped into the room, the door closing behind her, as The Inhabitants shrank back, disappearing into the poorly painted wall as they shared their horrible glee.
Norway and Poland’s Game has begun!

When the lights blazed on and the Inhabitant made it’s presence known and spoke to them both, Norway’s expression grew even more grim and tight, especially when the damned reaper gestured towards him personally; his already white-knuckled upon his hilt intensified and centered the blade in front oh him with deadly practice. The Norwegian jumped backwards when the small object was disposed by the Inhabitant’s hand; a glance towards the small, silver object revealed it to be nothing ore than a pocket watch, before Norway’s attention was refocused to the reaper’s direction.
”May I introduce, the Raven Walker, Mystalickala! Let the game’s begin!”
It was only a short moment for this announcement to register in Lukas’ mind before a change in position by the floating reaper resulted in the re-opening of the door and what stepped through it, caused Lukas to blink to confirm that it wasn’t madness’ illusion within is vision. The woman-creature was beautiful, even Norway could see this, and at the sight of the huge, black wings breeching from her slender back intensified this. The Raven Walker was like some sort of exotic rose but even like this symbol of beauty, a rose has thorns, and the creature’s threat lurked in plain sight.
Long, black talons lengthened the creature limbs and the huge, beak-like appendage upon the Raven’s head was set to a deadly point. Lukas instinctively back away form the approaching creature, the slam of the door was ignored, and he focused on steadying his breathing. Somewhere beside him, the frightened sounds of what he assumed belonged to Poland irritated his ears but he ignored the nation’s whimpering.
Keeping a generous distance between himself and the creature, Lukas’ gaze upon her never wavered, so he saw the enormous focus the Raven had upon the innocent pocket watch upon the floor. The look he saw in her eyes was hunger, desire, and the creeping redness of anger as she finally looked up at both he and Poland. Norway didn’t know why the reaper saw fit to dispose the watch in the first place, but now he guessed that t was some sort of spur for the Raven Walker; she truly seemed much too interested in it.
‘That cursed Inhabitant said that this ’Game’ was of survival… ‘ Lukas glance at Poland and a hardening set into his gaze…. ‘This is battle and scarifies are to be made if victory is to be won’.
Norway then reaffirmed his attention on the creature and backed away, never wavering the stance of his blade. He stopped once he was the furthest he could be form the creature without trapping himself in a corner, which left Poland hopelessly the nearest tot creature….
‘Once the creature strikes at Polen, I’ll cut her down…. I cannot die this day, I still need to find Island’.

This had to be a nightmare: "Kill or be killed," the visions of death, shrouded in black cloaks, had said. That he was to be taking part in some kind of sick "game." What and who were the "master" and "pet" that they had mentioned? What was going to happen to him? Why him? After all that he'd been through, and at a silly little party? Fate was cruel. Feliks never caught a break, ever! What had he done wrong to deserve this? He wanted to ask God why He hated him so much, even though he knew that wasn't true. It was just his own bad luck.
His blond head was reeling and grinding and trying to process exactly what was going on. His imagination was running around unrestrained, as his logic and reason tried to rein everything in, though they had never been particularly strong. Poland was well known for jumping to conclusions and making ridiculous assumptions, all thanks to his truly creative (and often farfetched) mind.
Suddenly, he remembered something: didn't America like scary things? He must, with all those horror movies that had been coming out lately. His films were also famous for their impressive special effects, the Polish male recalled, suddenly beginning to piece together a rational hypothesis. Maybe this was all another trick, and he was on camera and everyone would be laughing at his and Norway's fear and it would go on Youtube and--
Suddenly, the spooky voice of "The Inhabitant" shook him from his thoughts. He watched a bony hand produce a pocket watch from what he assumed was a hidden pocket in the cloak, and throw it to the ground by him and Norway. Before he had a chance to wonder what good it would do on the floor like that and tell the skeleton-like man that he'd dropped his watch, however, they introduced the "pet." Feliks had no idea what type of creature a "Raven Walker" was, or how to even pronounce that strange name, but the girl with the huge beak and wings was like no special effect he'd ever seen before.
He saw Norway move back from the corner of his eye, and let out a distressed whine; why had he done that? Surely the older and more experienced nation would know better than to fall for a trick like this, unless --
Poland looked back at the bird-woman, who was watching the pocket watch intently, for whatever reason. He took a little step back as well, his horrific imagination beginning to overtake his mind again, and bumped into a bookshelf. That was odd; had the room been a library the whole time? He hadn't even noticed...
He did notice, however, when Lukas was far, far from him and watching the monster, seemingly without a care for him! Feliks didn't even have a weapon; how was he to know that this was going to happen? Had he received a warning beforehand, maybe he'd have been ready, but America -- or whoever this "master" is -- had neglected to add that to the invitation. He wouldn't let himself simply stand there like a sitting duck, though; even if Norway didn't want to help him, he had to! They were acquaintances, at least, and one simply didn't allow acquaintances they'd known for centuries just die right before their eyes, right?
"N-Norway? Hey, maybe we should like, work together... You know, just in case this whole thing is real and not some kind of stupid prank." he called, stepping around the bookshelf behind him to take cover, though still quite a far distance from the Nordic country.

After so long of being trapped, Mystalickala had been informed of a game. A game she didn't have a choice in participating in of course, not that it really mattered. Her mere presence in the mansion was completely against her will. Had her treasure not been stolen...she wouldn't have even been there. The master had known of her weakness... And she had been tricked, and tricking a creature like her made her furious. Not only did it her make her furious, no, it also made her quite desperate, desperate enough to find something to replace her old treasure, even if she had to sacrifice or kill to do so.
So when the door opened and she was allowed to enter, her eyes caught a hold, first of her two victims, then of something bright and glimmering laying on the floor in between the men. She couldn't help but stare at it. After all, it was a thing of beauty. Of course it wasn't her treasure, but that didn't stop her from staring at it intensely, and within seconds she found herself diving downwards to quickly scoop it into her hands to admire it's beauty.
But that wasn't the only thing that had caught her eye. One of the men was holding a sword in his hand. He had it balanced tightly out in front of him, a serious expression etched into his light eyes. Mystalickala had no interest in the man holding the sword however, her main interest was the sword itself. Such a lovely specimen it was, and she knew it would be much better in her hands than his. He would only use it to kill. To hurt, as a weapon. She would treat it with the upmost care, and take care of it like the collectable it was.
But to get a hold of it she'd have to take care of the being holding it... as well as his sniveling friend who seemed to be acting as the others bait. She let out a low laugh. They must've thought her to be dumb and naive! Sure this game was kill or be killed but who said that she wasn't going to come out of it with a prize of her own?
Before she decided to make her move, she found herself scanning the surroundings, trying to make everything easier for her. Luckily enough, she was surrounded by large bookshelves, and she knew she could use those to her advantage. Her wiry strength and quick movement made it easier for her to fly to the top of a bookshelf where she then sat, waiting for her opponents to make their first moves.

"N-Norway? Hey, maybe we should like, work together... You know, just in case this whole thing is real and not some kind of stupid prank."
Lukas for the most part ignored Feliks; of course this thing was real. He was truly begging to wonder if it was just his luck that it seemed that he had experienced more of this place’s horrors than compared to other nations. He had a basic grasp on the concept of this hellhole, the mansion itself wanted them all to die, and this Game was just another means to do so. Well if the forsaken house wanted to spill his blood fatally, it would have to try very hard, and nothing was going to stand in his way until he found his bror again, this included both Poland and this Raven Walker creature.
His gaze never wavered or faltered from the dark figure of the female beast. He watched how she almost hungrily jumped at the silver watch that the reaper and thrown onto the thrown and certain similarities began to bind within Lukas’ mind. Certain birds were known for favoring shiny objects, namely crows and ravens, and it was beginning to look that this creature not only resembled her bird counterpart, but also exhibited some of its personality qualities as well.
Lukas also saw how the thing looked at him with a similar interest, but more namely at his sword, which certainly made him a target of interest. Sidestepping slowly, not chancing any sudden movements, Lukas began to circle leftwards, removing himself from his former position near the wall into more open space, taking great measure not to remove the Raven from his sight for more than a second. The three of the, the Raven, Poland and himself, now formed a rough triangle and it was a good position to be in….
That is until the creature took flight to the top of the bookcase, like a predator looking down upon her prey… that actually was the case. Lukas froze and waited, taking slowly, deep breathes, sending oxygen to his tense, lean muscles. A waiting game was ensuing and Lukas was not fool enough to make the first move. Hell no…. he’ll leave that to Poland.
"Poland.. this is real..." Lukas wasn't completely heartless... the least he could do he warn the other nation was his death would be issued something not created as a hoax, but was actual reality.
