Sadiq realized half way down the ladder that he should have went first instead of making her, but it was too late now. At least this way she knew that he though her capable of protecting herself. He didn’t have much time to think on it though before he reached the attic floor. Looking around, he realized nothing had changed; it was exactly the same as the last time he saw it besides for the hole in the roof letting in the weak yellow color that way trying to pass for sunlight. Repressing a startled reaction, he kept himself from jumping out of his skin by sheer will power alone when something grabbed his hand unexpectedly. Looking over, he saw it was Ukraine and he felt a spike of happiness run through him, only to crush it before it could spread farther. He had no right to feel like that, not now and not in this place. He knew her and knew she was only speaking to confirm there was someone with her through this. It meant nothing other than that. Perhaps after they were out of this horror tale, he would try to woo her. But that was best though of later when they all escaped this With a small sigh to himself, he made sure a comforting smile was on his face as he looked at her and squeezed her hand gently before leading in order to comfort her from the anxiety he was sure she felt. “Evet, let’s get going, the sooner we find a room, the sooner we can get warmed up from the chill of the outdoors.”They walked out of the attic door and down the steps, making sure to close the door behind them. If something were to follow them, at least they would hopefully get the door creaking as enough warning to prepare themselves for a potential attack from the rear. Finally arriving on the third floor, he looked left then right and listened. He could hear floor boards creaking and many other sounds that were usually associated with an old house such as this. Listening closer, he couldn’t hear the sound of feet moving or claws on the floor or anything that might be associated with the monsters in this place. Nodding and leaving things up to chance, he turned to her and squeezed her hand gently again. “Sounds like the coast is clear, let’s get going.”He wanted to get out of the open like this and into a room, put another layer of protection between them and anything that might come after them. Nowhere was safe, only safer. After passing a few of the dark wooden doors, he thought they were far enough away from the attic; he picked a door at random and opened it slowly. Poking his head in and looking around, he pulled it back out and nodded towards his companion. “Looks relatively safe in here Katya. It looks like we found a study of some sort, and it have a fireplace we can light for a bit to get some heat going. I can also check the other rooms to see if I can find some clean blankets to help warm us too.”Opening the door wide, Sadiq squeezed her hand again and looked between her and the opened room, unsure of his next action. Should he go in first just to make sure if there was something it would attack him first, or should he let her go first…oh screw it, he would go in since it seemed relatively safe out in the hall for now. He dropped her hand and rested it on his sword hilt, prepared for anything to come at them. He hoped she would follow him in and not stand out in the hallway. Gently, he pulled his sword and poked at the furniture with its dull side. He swept it under the chairs and the desk, anywhere that he thought something could hide. He didn’t bother looking for a light switch or for any candles or oil lamps that could be in the room. He knew he should have, as it was now, if there was any monsters in the room, they had the advantage over him. He hoped Katya could find her way to a chair or something it this low to lack of light. He was going to make sure the room was relatively safe before he took a seat beside her.

Upon stepping down from the last stair onto the carpeted hall of the third floor corridor, Ukraine felt her shoulders relax considerably at the noticeable difference of temperature in comparison to the attic and basically to be away from finally the dusty and spooky atmosphere that the upper level had casted. At least on this floor, there were grand portraits, ornate lights, carved wood and intricate carpet, the obvious grander and wealth this house once lived with. Katya couldn’t help but admire the amount of detail of beauty within such minute features in say, the frame of a picture, that she didn’t much pay attention to what Sadiq was doing or why they weren’t moving until he spoke up.
“Sounds like the coast is clear, let’s get going.”
Looking a him slightly confused, she didn’t say anything in response for they began forward, Sadiq taking the lead, and Ukraine was more than happy that she was no longer the leader; she wasn’t good at decision-making after all. She remained fairly close to Sadiq’s side as they walked, no longer looking at the walls but instead focusing on the Turk’s hand abound hers, so more or less it looked as though she was staring at the floor. When they finally stopped, she looked up to see a door adjacent to them and it looked as if Turkey had decided where they would stay, if the door was unlocked that is. The door opened easily, but Katyusha felt her companion stiffen when they saw the darkness of the room; who knew what may be already dwelling within it.
Sadiq took a quick sweep of the interior before he turned back to her and she smiled as he said, “Looks relatively safe in here Katya. It looks like we found a study of some sort, and it have a fireplace we can light for a bit to get some heat going. I can also check the other rooms to see if I can find some clean blankets to help warm us too”.
He released her hand following completely opening the door and, after almost hesitating, the man ventured forth into the room, leaving Ukraine alone in the hall, though she didn’t remain there for long and quickly scurried into the room too. Casting uneasy eyes around the dim room, she watched Turkey check different aspects of the room for dangers and she had to cover her mouth to stop herself from giggling. He looked liked he was trying to dust or something with his sword, which was ridiculous but given their circumstances, she knew that she better not laugh. Still, Sadiq looked silly so she did the most logical thing.
She felt up the wall beside up and flicked on the light switch.
The sudden rush of light startled her almost but it wasn’t necessarily bright for the majority of it came from green-shaded lamps from different areas of the room, casting a comforting, dim light that was suitable for a study. Plain as she could, Ukraine closed the door and locked it, as easy as if she had just arrived home and was not in a creature-infested mansion of death. She glanced at Turkey before examining the room, her motherly-mode activating as she walked over to one of the loveseats and fixed a cushion. “This nice,” she said more to herself than to Sadiq, before she walked over towards the hearth and noted its full wood box. A fire looked to be a great possibly and the grand, what looked to be bear rug, in front of the fireplace, looked comfy and the perfect place to sit on in front of the fire. A mound caught her eye and, smiling, Kat hurried over and picked up the folded quilt upon one of the reading chairs and went over to Sadiq.
“Look like you no need to leave for blanket”, she piped, hugging the quilt against her chest.

Looking around at all the places he had checked, he tried to find any area he may have missed that could have had something hiding in it. Everywhere was empty and only full of dust, and the other thing to worry about with the dust was getting it down your through and having it choke you or in your eyes, blinding you for a few minutes while the tears brought on by it cleaned them out, leaving them clear. Nodding to himself, he sheathed his sword, listening to the small click it made as it locked in place. Turning around, he blinked in surprise as a low light filled the room, they slowly adjusted and he smiled at seeing the homey feeling of the room. It looked like any other study that had once been used. All in all, with a little care and attention, they could get the place to be warm and welcoming.
Shaking his head, he couldn’t believe what he was thinking. They weren’t here to make it comfortable for livable purposes; they were only going to get warm and maybe talk some in the process, catch up, make sure there was no damage to the other from the fall. Noticing the woodbox next to the fire place, he headed over to it and tried to get one going. The wood looked old and dried, too dried. It might be hard to catch a light to it. Humming a bit to one of Katya’s comments that didn’t seem to be directed to him, he knew he needed kindling to get it going, though there might be something in the desk to get it started. He made his way over to the desk and started rooting through the drawers looking for anything that might be of use. He had to flip though each of the pages separately to make sure he didn’t burn anything that could be of use, but he eventually settled on an old child’s book. Looking up when he saw Katya next to him with the blanket, he grinned.
“Evet, I won’t need to leave, good. It’s going to take me a bit more time to get the fire going again. Why don’t you make yourself comfortable, wrap the blanket around you and start warming up? I’ll be as quick as I can.” It was really good because he didn’t want to leave her alone. Even if it was for purely selfish reasons.
Taking the book in hand, Sadiq walked passed her and gently brushed his free hand along her arm before walking back over to the fireplace and kneeling down in front of it with his back towards Katyusha, tore apart the book and placed some of it under the wood he had placed in the fireplace. Pushing his full sleeves up, he set out to start the fire. Taking the fire starter he had found in the box, Sadiq lit the pieces of paper and waited for the wood to catch fire. He poked it a few time with one of bronze utensils meant for this purpose. Tending the fire also gave him the chance to think. He didn’t know how much longer he could keep from asking her how she felt. The truth of the matter was the roof almost dropping them had scared him more than he wanted to say. In case the worst happened, he didn’t want her not to know. Shaking his head, he banished the thought. He couldn’t think like that. They would both make it, they would all make it. Looking up when he heard crackling, he smiled when he saw the fire was a decent size and warmth was rolling off of it in waves. Turning his head, he grinned at Katyusha and felt his eyes crinkle at the corners.
“This be big enough to keep you warm, or shall I try to make it bigger?”

“Evet, I won’t need to leave, good. It’s going to take me a bit more time to get the fire going again. Why don’t you make yourself comfortable, wrap the blanket around you and start warming up? I’ll be as quick as I can”.
A good sort of shiver trembled down her arm down to her legs when he looked at her then swept his fingers lightly across her arm. Her eyes followed him in earnest as he strode over to the hearth and knelt down to get to work. Ukraine stared after him for more time than was required before sighing and did what he had told her to do: she unwrapped the apparently homemade-quilt and draped it around her so to make a large, makeshift shawl. As Sadiq busied himself in the background behind her, Katyusha’s attention was caught idly by the large writing desk that the Turk had been sifting through earlier. While her thoughts were more or less consumed with thinking about the man at her back, her one hand started rustling through papers while the other clutched the ends of the blanket closed around her.
She felt… content, calm, and she even begun to hum softly under her breath while she glanced at various papers and basically just kept herself busy while listening the sounds of Turkey ripping paper and trying the light the fire behind her. It had not escaped her that they were locked inside of a room alone together with the company of a fire and her girlish heart swam at the romantic vibe this all held. Such were the foolish thoughts of a silly woman…. But it was nice to think of something as beautiful as romance either than being terrified or worried as she had been until she had met up with the Turk. Kat sighed, her hand pausing it its mess-making, before she brought it up to cup hr mouth to stifle a yawn. Closing her eyes, the image of Turkey’s face immediately appeared and remained in her mind even when she reopened her eyes, half-lidded with a touch of some could be called sadness. It was sad… Them being where they were because she couldn’t even recall the last time she had spent so much time with Turkey though it could have very well been when she had lived with him, which was quite some time ago.
Her thoughts strayed to various memories before she blinked, freezing her mind. Something silver and half-hidden from papers had caught her gaze and, well it was interesting because she didn’t remember seeing it before when she had been milling through the papers. Pulling aside some random document, a rather old-looking silver pocket watch appeared and Ukraine cocked her head to the side curiously. This house was filled with various treasures of the old American south, many of which would surely catch a high price at auction and Kat figured that the hunk of intricate silver would probably be quite valuable as well, not that money was her concern at the moment this a contrast from her normal everyday thinking.
Slowly she grazed her fingers against the side of the watch in a thoughtful manner, before she snapped her hand back in shock. Taking a step back, Ukraine looked down at the harmless looking watch with new concern and confusion: he watch had been as cold as ice when she had touched it, much colder than the temperature of the room. “Odd… “ she mumbled to herself before she became aware of the sounds of a happily crackling fire and she turned around back towards the fireplace and Sadiq, completely forgetting the strange pocket watch Coming over to stand at Turkey’s side before gracefully sitting down beside him, her legged tucked neatly beneath her, her blue went wide with joy at the familiar colour and warmth of the fireplace’s flames.
“This be big enough to keep you warm, or shall I try to make it bigger?”
Kat smiled up at him, obviously quite content with the fire and without much warning she unwrapped her one arm closest to her companion and flung the quilt to encircle Sadiq’s shoulders, sheathing him in the fabric as she was. Leaning her side against his, she got comfortable and sighed. “Tak, it all very nice and varm,” she said softly, her hand caressing the fur of the bear whose hide they sat on and couldn’t help but think of the many nights she had sat with her brother and sister on a bear rug very similar to this one in front of the fire in their younger years. Still, no she was with Turkey so when she reached up and removed her elaborate headpiece to comfortably lean her head upon his shoulder, a different sort of warmth fluttered through her then anything caused from her family.

Sadiq had expected her to sit on the couch and make herself comfortable there, spreading the blanket out over top of her and curling up in it. This is what he expected, so when he felt her sit next to him and wrapped the blanked around him too, he blinked, wide eyed. His pupils were wide due to the low light and his skin was slightly cold due to the amount of time they had spent outside. Smiling, at her, he felt his heart skip a beat as she leaned against him. Feeing it restart again, warmth spread throughout him. He couldn’t believe it, she was only trying to keep them both warm, and this was how to do it. Both of them in front of the fire with the blanket around them, sitting close together, touching each other…He mentally smacked himself and let a long breath out through his nose in annoyance at himself. Bad though, should not be thinking like that. The sooner he got it though his head, the happier they would both be.
Blinking at the movement he saw in the corner of his eye, he scrunched up his eyebrows in confusion as she took of her headpiece and laid it to the side of the bear skin rug they were both sitting on. He followed the movement with his eyes and watched her put her head against his shoulder. Slowly, as if he would be told no, he lifted the arm that she was half leaning against and wrapped it around her waist, holding her close. He could hear his heart beating loud in his ears and wondered if she could hear it as well. He could feel the flush cover his face and was glad for the low light so hopefully Katyusha could not see him flushing like he was. It all came to him, the atmosphere of the room with the fire and the low lights and the bear skin run and the blankets around them. It struck a cord with his romantic side and he wasn’t sure how to react.
Many thoughts ran through his head, yet he couldn’t pinpoint what a single one was, he knew he needed to say something to her, but it was as if the heat and the contact had burned his brain, leaving him unable to think straight. Staring into the fire, he watched the flames and used them to try and focus his thoughts. Taking a deep breath, he tightened his hold a bit around her middle in a hug and leaned his head over to kiss her lightly on the forehead, letting his lips linger on her skin for a moment before pulling back and smiling hesitantly at her. He lifted his other hand and gently placed two finger s under her chin and gently lifted her head so they were looking eye to eye, faces a few inches apart. His breathing was slightly shallow. His eyes flickered from hers then down to her lips then back up to her eyes. This was truth time to him, how would she react to that light touch? He knew what he had to ask, knew the many layers that could be interpreted from it, but to him, it would tell him if he stood a chance with her.
“Are you comfortable here Katyusha?”

Ukraine could have fallen asleep then and there and to be honest, she almost did. With her head upon Sadiq’s shoulder, the chill from their ordeal on the roof melting away from his body heat, the fire, and the quilt, she was so comfortable and felt so safe that her body dared to allow itself to feel exhausted. When Turkey moved she didn’t stir and when he relaxed once more, though now his arm was around her waist, she simply made a soft sighing sound of content and didn’t object or anything to the action. Her hands lay neatly over lap, her legs having adjusted to rest to the side of her rather than immediately beneath her torso. Such a welcoming calm settled into her chest that ensured that any sleep that was pressing down upon her would be a pleasant one.
Still, there remained a conscious string within Kat’s mind that made her full aware that her and Turkey sat so close and that his arm was warmly around her. She felt like it belonged there, a perfect and comfortable fit, and when he increased his hold ever so slightly, a faint smile appeared on her lips though her eyes remained closed. Her breathing was even, her heart steady, and she had stopped shivering, all indications that she was walking close with Sleep but this was disturbed when Turkey did something that even Ukraine didn’t quite expect from him.
The instant the man’s lips gently touched her fair forehead, Ukraine’s eyes fluttered half-open and a blush bloomed across her cheeks. Now, it wasn’t as if this was the first time a man had kissed her on her forehead, Russia did it all the time, but the fact that Sadiq had done it gave her butterflies. The spot where his lips had made contact felt hotter than the rest of her warm face and half-awake as she was, when the Turk urged her head upwards with the gentle touch of his fingers she did so willingly. Sleepy blue eyes met his and instantly, Ukraine broke out into a soft smile. This… this was nice and she wondered what Turkey wanted to say to her, that it was so important that he needed eye contact.
“Are you comfortable here Katyusha?”
Her eyes shifted a bit to gaze more into his, before her right brow rose ever so slightly with inquiry and amusement. Well of course she was comfortable, she was after all almost asleep and it was such a relief to be able to sit down and relax a bit. However, a small, very small, and distant voice at the back of her mind that perhaps his question meant more than strictly conformability. Then again, when was Ukraine ever good at reading between the lines? So she stuck with the truth when she answered Sadiq, her head leaning into his hand a bit and her eyes softened to match her smile.
“Tak, Sadiq, very much comfortable. I am as long as you are and I have you here,” she said in a whisper, her voice clear despite her drowsiness, her eyes closing accompanied with a soft sigh of pleasant contentedness.

Looking into her tired eyes, Sadiq felt a little guilty that he had kept her from the peaceful realm of sleep, but he hoped she could forgive him from drawing her back from that well deserved rest. Some part of his mind told him he needed to do this now, for neither knew what could happened; a seconds hesitation could be a second too late. He kept looking into her eyes, not saying anything for a minute, just taking everything in, and memorizing it for later times. The way her sleepy blue eyes reflected the fire light gave them a beautiful opalescent quality that outshone any of the finest jewels he had ever had in his collection or that he had seen grace her skin. Moving his eyes down, he glanced at her lips that seemed to have a bit of their own shine to them. Perhaps a touch of lip balm had graced the crimson colored skin. Raising his eyes again, he let his own eyes become lidded and a small breath escaped though his lips. His tongue reached out subconsciously to wet his own chapped lips. He would take a chance and risk it all. Some risks were with taking, and this was one of them.
“I am glad you’re so comfortable with me. I would move Earth and Sky for you Katyusha.”
Gently, Sadiq moved his hand to the back of her head and ran his fingers through her hair a bit before settling on the nape of her neck and pulled her close, stopping an inch or two apart, letting a short breath out to caress her lips before closing his eyes and kissing her. He kept his lips there for a few seconds before moving, trying to draw her into a deeper kiss. Show her how he felt since his words usually failed him. Her lips were just as soft as he expected and everything revolved around her. The sound of the fire crackling in his ears vanished, the softness of the feel of the rug under him didn’t matter and the warmth of the blanket around him was forgotten. The only thing that mattered was her. The feel of her lips against his and her soft his underneath the hand on her neck and the feeling of her in his arms.
Too soon for his own liking, he broke away and, for the first time, his smile was unsure, eyes questioning. Did she like it? Hate him for breaking their close friendship they had? He hated to lose friends, but this was one risk he felt like he needed to take. . A small part of him wanted to pull her in close again and kiss her senseless, but he wouldn’t take it any farther than the simple kiss they had shared. He hadn’t even planned that, but he couldn’t resist. He felt the need to have at least one kiss. This place was too unpredictable with no guarantees of survival or making it past the hour.
“Katyusha, benim mi olacak?” With a small frown, he realized he had spoke Turkish and probably something that she didn’t understand. “Let me try that again. I care very deeply for you Katyusha. Perhaps more than I should given everything and being stuck in this place. Will you be mine?”
------------- benim mi olacak=be mine?

Searching... she was searching.
Raven peeled through the clothes, parting every article, searching every pocket. The hunched monster was doubled over a pile that had been carelessly pulled from the hangers that previously suspended them in a cozy closet. That didn't matter though. None of that mattered. As soon as the monster moved on, the clothes would recollect in the closet, as if she had never sorted through them. It was mocking, really. Not once had the beast stumbled upon her treasure, and it was agitating the creature to her wits' end. She wanted her watch and she wouldn't rest until she had it in her talons.
Hissing as she tossed down the last coat, empty handed, the Raven Walker stalked away, her talons clicking on the floor as the anger bloomed in her chest. Ruffing up her feathers, she batted a wooden chair across the bedroom, smashing it against the wall. This was most disappointing. It was hard enough to not know where her treasured watch was, but it was even harder to not find it immediately. The rooms in this household changed subtly. Rooms that had been checked moved into the Raven Walker's path and were rechecked and rechecked again. By this point, the Raven Walker knew that the Manor was shifting the location of her item around, else she would have found it by now.
The blackened creature crouched, sighing raggedly as she clutched her head in her claws. Sinking to the floorboards, the monster closed its hidden eyes and tried to focus. She could feel her treasure nearby, as she had when she entered the building. Its presence never left, which was another thing that disturbed the hideous mutant. The Manor was mocking her by holding her treasure close... near enough that he feathers would tingle and she would stop at nothing to find it. Raven had encountered people, and to vent her fury, attacked them. She was no worse for the wear, despite the fatigue from her endless searching. She would find it though. When she did, she would never let the object out of her sight.
And then she felt it.
Like a slicer cutting through her thoughts, it impaled her torso with realization. The cold knife of indication... someone had dared to take her treasure. Puffing her black wings out in rage, the Raven Walker sprang up and in a black flash, was through the door and fluttering down the hall. She could feel the woman... the lady who was the wretched thief. Upstairs. Two doors on the left. Banking sharply as the monster reached the stairs, Raven discarded the thought of being subtle. Clawing at the wooden steps, Raven left gouges in the material as she launched herself upwards, aided by her light body and inky black wings. Once at the top, the creature surged forward, not making another sound as her talons never touched the floorboards. No, the Raven Walker was blasting through the air with tenacious speed. Normally, Raven would have stalked her prey and drove them mad before killing them. Not this time. Raven's patience had been passed long ago. She wanted her treasure, and she wanted it now. The woman would pay for touching the humanoid's beloved watch.
In seconds, Raven had reached the door. Lock or no lock, the door was struck by the monster and blasted off its hinges with a massive cracking noise as it thundered backwards, completely ripped from the doorframe. In one smooth motion, Raven landed with a massive swoosh of her wings that buffeted the room with so much wind that it silenced the cracking fire. The only illumination left was the gentle warmth from the green lamps across the room. Now, it served as an eerie candle that cast dim shadows across the dark creature's body as the beak of the Raven Walker turned and the beast laid its hidden eyes on the woman.
“Perishhhhh...” Raven hissed through tight lips before she lurched forward in a blast of speed, ready to gut the woman where she was.

She had no idea what was to come, what Sadiq could have possibly have been planning, but Ukraine had felt herself being lost within his gaze, a warmth blooming in her chest which appeared in the blush of her cheeks. He was acting so strange, but so sweet, and she would have liked more to lean against him and fall asleep, to forget where they were this horrible, terrible place, and simply be together. Blinking a bit when he began to shift, she allowed him out of slight confusion and her eyes widened a bit when he drew her closer, so much so that her lips fell open a bit when she felt his breath so near her. She blinked even more now, her sleepiness being slightly forgotten as she gaze a half questioning looking at Turkey but in reality her expression didn’t change much. She was frozen, enchanted by turkey and how close he was to her and the way her stared at her. His eyes were beautiful wit his long, dark eyelashes. Kat felt like she could stare into them forever but then Turkey broze the gaze by glancing down at her lips, but it was long enough for Ukraine to gather herself a bit by easing a small smile into her lips and trying to think of how to ask Turkey what exactly what he was doing or what was wrong.
“I am glad you’re so comfortable with me. I would move Earth and Sky for you Katyusha.”
A small intake of breath was her reply along with the increase of her blush and her blue eyes shined with the onslaught of confused, overwhelmed tears. What was he talking about? What did he mean? Kat’s mind started to race, as did her heart as Sadiq pulled her closer, their lips almost touching, and she could even smell his manly, scent and that in itself caused her to bite her lip lightly; his hands were so gentle and big, so much bigger than her own, and his skin upon her neck made her shiver a bit. Ukraine could admit that she was not the smartest of nations but even she knew what he was planning, what this was all about, and it set her skin on fire, her heart beat loudly in her ears, and her tears made an appearance at the corner of her eyes.
Then, it happened. Ukraine’s heart and mind missed a beat as Turkey came in and kissed her, lightly at first, then he deepened it. Her chest exploded with heat and the small taste of his lips was almost sweet and after a moment of shock and surprised, Ukraine kissed back softly, closing her eyes that caused her tears of joyous confusion to cascade from her eyes. Centuries that had know each other and it had to be in a house of doom and death that this finally happened, it was borderline unfair, but in that small moment Ukraine was lost and forgot the horrors, her worry, her nightmares and her world became solely Sadiq.
All too quickly, Turkey pulled back, leaving a breathless woman her flickered her tear brightened eyes to look at him, her complexion rose-coloured, and lips full from her heart’s accelerated blood rush. Immediately a flare of shyness overcame her and she turned her head down to look at his chest, but her smile only widened. He held so close that the action nearly brought her forehead in contact him his torso and the impulse to lean against him was strong, but Kat resisted, pausing to listen to him speak but at first she didn’t understand for he used his native tongue, so boldly she looked back up at him, curious with eyes full of hope.
“Let me try that again. I care very deeply for you Katyusha. Perhaps more than I should given everything and being stuck in this place. Will you be mine?”
“Sadiq…” She began, new tears replacing those already fallen and her lower lip moved as if she tried to say something but her throat had tightened with emotion and all she could was release a sob and smile even wider. She brought her hand up to cup his face, her fingers lightly running over his handsome stubble and just as she though she had found her voice a sudden boom filled the room, spurring fright and adrenaline into her veins ad she instantly shrank away from Turkey like a teenager caught by her parents with a boy in her room. An old rush of wind surged across the room, smothering their fire and the study darkened save for the electricity. Ukraine had scrambled away form Turkey a good couple of feet in her shock but she instantly regretted the act and felt small and alone when her eyes fell upon the black figure that now stood in the open doorway.
Her blood, moments ago so hot, suddenly went cold and a pain struck her chest; it was pure terror. Everything happened in a rush and Ukraine barely was able to gasp before the feathered creature screeched and bolted towards her, screaming out “Perishhhhh...” and Katyusha’s eyes went as wide as they could go, brimming with fear, and she was frozen as sharp talons rushed for her trembling, helpless body but not enough for her to scream in gut-wrenching terror.
This was surely the end of Ukraine.

Sadiq remained silent after his confession to the Ukrainian woman, almost afraid to breath. He feared that any slight sound would break this dream, shatter this reality and force him watch it crumble into pieces around him, pieces of his overtaxed heart he wasn’t even sure he would want to put back together. Everything about him felt so raw, so vulnerable, so open. One scratch could flay him alive and bring pain to the very center of his being. New tears appeared in her eyes to replace the ones he knew had fallen earlier, the ones he felt on her beautiful face when they had been lip to lip. She had surprised him by kissing back. While part of him had hoped that she felt similar to how he did, another part of him fully expected her to push him away, to tell him that she only felt a familial sort of love for him, like she did for her brother and sister. But it didn’t happen. She had kissed him back lightly and ever so briefly in his head. He wanted to hold onto this feeling, but he knew it could still mean a multiple of things, especially with the new tears he saw in her eyes and the smile. The sob is what worried him the most. It could be happiness or that she was about to break his heart and felt bad about it. Did she feel the same, this overwhelming feeling that couldn’t be denied anymore; or was she going to tell him she couldn’t, not now, not in this literal hell hole.
He closed his eyes as her hands cupped his face, enjoying possibly the last time she would ever allow herself this close to him if it was the later of the thoughts. He wanted to treasure it, perhaps use it to try and heal a potential broken heart. Her fingers danced over the lines of his face and along the stubble, almost in a tickling manner, but he enjoyed it. Opening his eyes, he saw her color filled lips trying to form words as her blue eyes shone with the tears and with an inner light that made her one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen, a light of a feeling he was hesitant to name.
Before anymore thoughts could pass though his mind, the ear splitting sound of the shattering of wood filled the air and a large boom filled the air as if something had just dropped and left a larger crater where it had fallen. Automatic reactions kicked in to protect and find out what was going on. He reached for her in an attempt to put her behind him, out of the way of whatever the hell it was, but his arms only met empty, cold air. The soft glow of the fire had vanished, leaving only the harsh electric low lighting to see by. A look of unholy terror was on her face and he followed her gaze to see the monster in the doorway staring at her and her alone. All of these took just moments to process in his head, but it was still a moment too long in his head. The monster had launched itself with power towards the smaller woman. His mind still hadn’t fully process what was going on, but a small part of him, unused for decades, knew what was going on. Adrenaline flooded his system along with anger as the monsters words penetrated his system. His flight or fight response kicked in and his fighting instincts came back to the forefront.
“Perishhhhh...”
Muscles tensed as he moved to a crouching position and launched himself at the black monster with the wicked looking beak he knew he would have to avoid. The part of his mind that was thinking through the situation hoped that by diverting the monsters course, Katya would be able to get out of the way and hopefully either make a run for it or grab a weapon. Coming in contact with the monsters side, he wrapped his arms the torso and had to blink in surprise. Feathers. The monster had feathers which was surprisingly soft. With a growl as they hit the ground, he wanted to look at her, but he knew that would be certain death, so his focused remained on this monster and the monster alone.
Growling at the moster, he let his anger and rage be focused through his voice in a tone that many had not heard in decades. “Deal with me Bastard!”

Raven was hissing and sputtering in sheer rage as she hurdled towards the woman... no, the wench that dared to try and take what was truly the Raven Walker's treasure. It even heard the satisfying scream that preceded death from her victim. Raven had almost ripped into the woman's flesh before something... something rather heavy broadsided her and flattered her to the ground. Surprise caught the Raven of guard, but the moment was short lived. Almost instantaneously, the creature screeched. A high pitched, near deafening cry rebounded around the small room. The creature shook with an invisible rage before turning its anger into action. A man... the man that had been fondling the woman before. Had love driven him to action? Raven began to thrash. Hah, well then. So be it. If he intended to die for the woman, then the Raven Walker would grant him that wish.
“Deal with you? Assss you wishhhhhh,” Raven hissed as she twisted sharply, rolling on the floor in a mass of features, wings and talons. The human had gripped her tightly though, as he proved to not release her from his grip. Good move. If he hadn't and had fallen off, Raven would have ripped his throat right out. Hissing, the monster decided to take a different tactic. She would get the human off her body, and once she did, she'd split his skull. Then the woman would suffer the same twisted fate. And after all that bloodshed, Raven would finally, finally have her beautiful pocket watch back in her talons.
However, she had work to do before that goal could be reached. Hissing and spitting inhuman sounds, Raven reached back and raked her talons across the body that clutched her. True, she couldn't get a clear strike in on the male, but she could shred his skin that she could reach until he bled out. Then, after he grew weak she could fling him off. Scuttling about on the floor, Raven cocked her neck back and tried to twist such that her beak became a stabbing weapon. Such a foolish peasant to think he could merely pin a full fledged monster to the ground, especially when he attacked while unarmed. Human's had skin like paper and strength that was limited. They would both be gone soon enough, once this man bled enough to lose strength. Raven wasn't positive as to where the woman had gone, as she was a little preoccupied with her betrothed, but Raven would hunt her down and tear her flesh off piece by piece. There was a steep price to pay when dealing with a Raven Walker and these two had the misfortune to experience it.

Kat could do nothing but remain where she was, frozen utterly with fear, screaming while her thunderous, fast heartbeat deafened her ears. Her eyes were wide as saucers all her entire reality was focused on the slick, black creature practically flying towards her, literally seconds away from impaling the Ukrainian woman. She managed to swallow and didn’t even have a second to think of anything like her siblings, or her country, or even Sadiq but then… One second the bird creature was there and then a flash of movement appeared an then there was a crash and… Ukraine may have blacked out slightly or fainted because the next thing she knew, she was opening her eyes, confused, until she looked over and saw a most terrifying and terrible sight.
There was Turkey wresting violently with the winged creature, both growling and shouting angry sounds of fury and a whole lot of thrashing and struggling. Once more her terror reignited and intense worry and concern consumed her, so much so that Ukraine moved to reach forward to help but she recoiled in time to save her hand from being scratched. Her involving herself physically would only complicate things for herself and more importantly, for Sadiq. She didn’t know what to do; she didn’t know how to help! Her pathetic candlestick didn’t even cross her mind and when she saw that the creature had begun to try and rip her Turkish companion apart bit by bit, Sadiq’s blood spreading ore and more with the fighting pair’s actions, Ukraine began to cry pitifully, feeling useless and like a damsel in distress. Oh her brother would be so disappointed….
The thought of her brother shocked Katyusha; literally, making her flinch and her eyes went wide. Then, everything seemed to fall into place smoothly after that. Her fear slipped away and her focus returned. She raised her hand to wipe away her tears as she hastily stood, her expression a complete contrast to what it had just been for it was now hard, determined, and her eyes had grown cold. Without even a further glance at Sadiq and the Raven Walker, Ukraine ran out of sight around the couch and headed directly towards the back of the room. With haste, she began to rip through the drawers, the sounds of pain and fury of Turkey urging her on even further, but still she continued her search for something she had seen earlier but hadn’t given it much thought at the time. Finally, she found it. The Metal was cold in her hands but it held a familiarity and felt comfortable in her hands.
Making quick use of her calm fingers with the object, Kat strode over the room once more, having only spent a few minutes searching but she knew in the back of her mind that those minutes had meant more pain and blood for Sadiq, if she wasn’t too late already. Approaching the figures, Ukraine came to stop and raise her arm presenting the metal object in her hand. Her eyes were eerily blank but focused intensely on the struggling movements of both creature and man and after a second, they widened as if she had seen what she had been waiting for and a small, happy smile spread across her lips and her index finger squeezed the trigger of the revolver and its blast filled the room. Her shot was true and blood droplets struck her face while her expression became even more cheerful, though her eyes held no brightness.
Her brother would be so proud of her… Directly in the head, just as he had told her so many times, and with her gun’s muzzle still smoking, she lowered it and gave off a small chuckle.

Pain. That was all he was reduced to feeling. The floor on his back and sides didn’t matter; he would suffer through this pain as long as it gave Katya a chance to get away. All Sadiq could hear was the sound of his own growls and of the Ravens, both animalistic in quality. He couldn’t tell where his own began and the Raven’s ended. All he knew is he had to keep a hold and had to find a way to at least injure this…monster before it killed them both. A sharp hiss of pain was pulled from his throat as her claws raked through a previously torn area, enlarging the wound. The blood on his skin stuck as it dried, only to be replaced by more. And odd part of his mind commented on how stained the carpet was going to be and how much of a pain that was going to be to get out, but he shoved it away, it wasn’t his house and he didn’t care, he had bigger fish to fry.
Using his hands, he attempted to tear out some of the feathers, cause as much pain as he could while he was sure that the Ukrainian woman still in the room. Finally, the sounds of running feet penetrated his ears and he knows now she should be safe. Rolling more, he feels the floor on his wounds and the pressure being put on them hurts like hell, but he can’t give up, the monster was sure to go after her again. Finally, taking a chance, he moved to push the monster away from him as hard as he could, what with the feeling of blood loss starting to set it. It seemed like it wasn’t a moment too soon, for as soon as he got himself free, a gun went off. Holding as still as he could, he waited for the ringing in his ears to stop. He was still alive; the shot wasn’t meant for him.
Sadik tried to get to his feet, but found it hard with his inured midsection. Placing his left arm around his middle, he managed to stand up shakily and stare at the monster. Raising his right hand, he reached over and drew his sword from the blood soaked scabbard and just let it hang at his side.
“You think you are the monster here, but you’re wrong. It is we who are the real monsters. You have only hate and can never love or know love. As we, Nations, know love and yet turn our backs on it, destroy all traces of it on a whim. You are not a monster, we are.”
Walking forward, he raised his sword and brought it down swiftly on the things neck, separating it from its feather ridden body. Turning around to look at the woman, he noticed she still the cold eyes and the grin like her brothers. Blinking once, he cleaned it on the feathers before sheathing it and walking over to her. Laying a hand on her shoulder, Sadiq shook it. “Time ta go Katya, I need fixed up and I don’t want to leave a trail of blood all over the place.” Looking over her again, he cocked his head. “Are ya alright? No damage or that?”

Raven thrashed and writhed, lashing out with her deadly talons to rake long gashes down the nation's sides. She grew restless and angry, as she was unable to immediately shed him from her back. The Raven Walker tried to flap her wings out as she rolled, but she found that her limbs were held down tightly with little room to budge, save for her limited arm swing that she was managing. Had Raven been able to attack this man head on, he wouldn't have lived long enough to even utter a single breath.
Instead, Raven was left to shred the man's sides all to hell. If she kept this up, she might tear his organs out through the tender skin below his ribcage. Raven shrieked, an inhuman screech ripping through her throat as she rolled, a mess of feathers and talons as the human dared to try and cause the Raven Walker pain. She could feel the sting as her guard feathers were torn out from her body. Screeching, this time in sheer anger, Raven flipped rather violently to squash the air from this wretched human. She'd split his skull for tarnishing her lovely plumage!
The beast barely noticed the fleeting footsteps that had left her and the man, as she was far to preoccupied with tearing his eyes out at the moment. The woman would come later, for Raven could be patient and follow her until she grew mad with insanity. The Raven Walker knew how to torture souls and the woman would receive no mercy for her cowardice. That was, until there was a pair of footsteps that returned. Fool. Raven would kill the lady now if she thought she could help the bloodied man.
Raven hissed as she rose her hidden eyes, just as the trigger of the revolver had been pulled. The blast echoed through the air, piercing through Raven's skull directly through her beak and between her eyes. The creature thumped to the side almost instantly, twitching and writhing weakly on the blood stained carpet. She was no longer 'there' to hear the words that the man had to say, as her brain had been blasted out and was sticking in chunks on the carpet and wall. Once beheaded, the body ceased all movement as it fell in a heap on the floor. Black blood seeped into the dark grain of the wood as the Raven Walker, the fabled and horrible monster, laid to rest.
[Congratulations, you have slain the Raven Walker. you're reward is the pistol that you discovered in the drawer. Use it well]

The recoil of the gun struck soft hands, but would leave no bruises. Bruises were dealt to amateur, inexperienced hands and there were few exceptions with nations who were not accustomed to the sting of the kickback from a firearm. A ringing had filled the woman’s ears, further disconnecting her from reality, as bright blue eyes stared dully at the lifeless corpse of the creature whom she had shot in the head. Ukraine was no longer in the room, but far away in the comfort of her bed. No, she was beneath the hot sun and was tending to her garden. Why would she be in such a hellish and godforsaken place? It made much more sense for her to stay where it was safe and so far away from anything horrific. The cold gun in her hand was now a trowel and her blood-spattered costume was instead comfortable out clothes. She began to hum and smile wider as she watched her flowers shift from a breeze, and her tune carried through the dimensions back into the Manor.
This was Katyusha’s mechanism, to shut down, to be shut off, to retreat into a safe place. There were reasons why she was usually so happy, why she could cry so easily, and why she could be merciless. Centuries of war and battle have hardened the woman’s mind against facing gruesome or terrible images by blocking them out, memory suppression, and there are literally lapses in Ukraine’s memory in which she can not even remember how many people she’s killed or why. She understands that this is the life of a nation but these methods of her keep the majority of the nightmares away, unlike her poor brother… Being a country was hard, harder than any human could even begin to imagine, and the personalities of many who exist in the present day are the results of battles, conquering, defeat, blood, heartbreak, and the few rare times of happiness. Not that Ukraine was worried about all that dirty business right now; she had roses to tend to.
The Ukrainian woman’s eyes blinked a few times and her world was shaken by a hand at her shoulder and a wave of dizziness struck her, causing her to shake her head as her mind rebooted itself. Confusion swept over her and she looked about, why was she? What happened? Her garden was gone as were her flowers and once more she stood in a study and in front of her stood Turkey. Her complete puzzlement could be clearly seen on her expression and she looked at Sadiq, his words sounding much to distant even with his close proximity for the ringing in her ears was just beginning to dull.
“Time ta go Katya, I need fixed up and I don’t want to leave a trail of blood all over the place. Are ya alright? No damage or that?”
“Sadiq?" She asked, softly. “No damage…” she repeated mechanically, not really understanding what he meant by that until she raised her hand to clench her shirt in worry, when she realized that said hand was currently holding something. Looking down, she saw the muzzle of the gun and automatically, without thinking, switched on the safety. Creasing her face with even more confusion, she quickly looked up at the man before her for an explanation when she saw the splatter of crimson on his cheek. Reaching up with her free hand, she wiped it off out of simple motherly nature, but the spot smeared red over his cheek and it would take a bigger fool than Ukraine to not know what the substance was.
“Sadiq…” she began, her voice pitching and concern and worry shocked her eyes wide. What had she done? This was her first thought as her eyes tailed down over his body to find it mutilated, torn, and heavily bloodied. Katyusha screamed before she hiked her shoulders up and clapped a hand over her mouth, tears sweeping over her eyes. Without thinking and mumbling in frantic, hurried Ukrainian, too fast for any non-speaking to fully underhand, Kat shoved the muzzle of the gun into the waist band of her skirt and darted back over to the fireplace to grab the quilt she somehow knew would be there.
Rushing back over, her tears now fully falling and her panicked words being broken by sobs, she expertly began to tear the quilt down its seams to create strips, her plan being to bind the Turk’s wound sot slow and stop the bleeding. “Sit in, in chair! I help... I help…” she managed to say, her eyes latched onto her dear friend, but a black mass on the floor was caught in her peripheral, but a voice in her head prohibited her from looking, Russia’s voice, and she obeyed the command form her brother obedient as always. With trembling but knowing hands, she carefully removed the tattered remained of Turkey’s shirt from the wounded areas and began to treat the wounds, her eyes glued to the multiple lacerations and wondered how on earth this had happened.
“This… this vill hurt, tak? I... I so sorry…. I...” her remaining words were swollen back into her native language and a onslaught of fresh tears. With one layer now covering his skin, blood was already soaking through the material and Kat reached her arms around Turk to fasten yet another layer tighter this time, but while her hands were busy, her face fell upon Turkey’s muscled shoulder and Ukraine began to cry harder, wanting so bad to hug him, curl up into his strong arms, and for him to tell her that everyone was all right, but she didn’t want to hurt him anymore than she already was with her nursing. “I… so sorry…”

Sadiq kept his eyes on her, hoping to keep her eyes on his face and not on the damage done for now. She didn’t need to see the raven’s corpse, nor did she need to see how badly he was hurt right now. Get her out of the dark presence and only then, would he worry about getting himself treated. Looking her up and down, he could see no physical damage, which was exactly as it should be. He had kept the monster from touching her. They had saved each other’s lives in a span of ten minutes, and a small part of his mind new he should find a way to thank her.
Nodding, he squeezed her shoulder in support as she moved her hand up to clutch her shirt and only them seemed to realize she held a gun. “That was good thinking Katya, you saved my life. Where-” He was going to ask here where she got the gun, but he silenced himself when she reached up to run a finger over his cheek. He closed his eyes and let out a breath, joyful that he could still feel her touch, glad that the monster hadn’t taken her from him. The adrenaline was starting to leave his system now that he let himself start relaxing. A dull ache was starting to make itself known, and it was growing more painful by the second; plus it was leaving him tired. Pain plus blood loss always left him feeling tired and weak.
Trying to ignore everything his body was trying to tell him, ignoring how it said he should sleep for a while, he tried to smile, but it was turned into a frown he heard her shriek and a look of… was that fear? A look of fear and worry was etched on her face. Blinking again, he saw her back as she ran across the room. Watching her pick up the blanket, he still wasn’t sure what was wrong until he turned partway to face her and a lance of fiery pain shot up his sides and back. A growl of pain escaped his throat as he looked down to check and see what he could. His sides were torn to hell and back, and looking around, so was his back. This apparently was not his day.
“Sit in, in chair! I help... I help…”
Looking up, he followed her direction. But he had to find a way to sit so the Ukrainian woman could treat his wounds as best as she could. A quick look around produced an ottoman he could sit on. Moving carefully, he sat down on the old furniture and griped the edges. He knew this was going to hurt. Waiting, the first strips were added and he tensed, some Turkish curse words leaving his mouth before he could bite his lip. Every strip that was added, he gripped the material tighter, his knuckles white with the effort. He didn’t hear her warning that it would hurt, he had been preparing himself for it already.
“I… so sorry…”
Letting out a sigh when he was sure the last bandage was in place, he released his grip and straightened his back. It still hurt, but he knew that this would be the best way to get his wounds to stop bleeding for now. This wasn’t the worst injury he has suffered, but it was the worst one in a decades and it hurt. Reaching up, he rand a hand across his face and found that he had be crying due to the pain also. Soft sounds reached his ears and he carefully turned himself so he was looking at Katya. Reaching up, he rested a hand on her cheek and tried to wipe away her tears.
“Don’t cry, you have no reason to cry, it wasn’t you fault. Now listen, you have a weapon, we need to get out of here alright. Go check wherever you got the gun to see if there are more bullets. We need to get out of here. Maybe to the infirmary first, I’m going to need stitches, I can tell already. Dry you tears for now, we can both cry once we get away from this room.”
He wanted to comfort her now, but he knew he could do no more than what he was. He hurt too much to hold her as tight as he wanted to, as tight as she deserved. First chance he was able to, he would hold her as tight as he could and not let her go till they both felt that each other was alive and, if not fully whole, at least as safe as they could be here. Settling for what he could do right now, he leaned forward and kissed her gently before standing up.
“Let’s get going my dear.”

Dry you tears for now, we can both cry once we get away from this room.”Ukraine bit her lips at his words, her bottom one quivering as she fought to do as he said and stop crying, but it was hard. He was in so much and she was so scared and worried. She raised her blood covered hands and clasped his and upon her cheek and brought her tear stained eyes up to meet his, surprise making her release her lips for them to fall open a bit when she saw that he had tear that matched hers. Was he hurting that badly? He shouldn’t be crying, he was so much stronger than her, but she knew that even the strongest of men cried once in a while. She nodded to acknowledge the words he had told her and released her hands to return back tot eh drawer where she had found the gun, when Turkey leaned forward and planted such a soft kiss upon her lips. This time, there was no hesitation when she closed her eyes and kissed back, causing more teas to cascade down her cheeks. When he broke the kiss, she stood with him and gave him a smile. “Let’s get going my dear.”Once more she nodded and left his side with her chin held high as she strode back over to the writing desk and began to dig through it to try and locate… ah! There they were! Sure enough, she found a small box of rounds for her revolver right where she had found the gun, forgetting about her candlestick weapon completely, and reaching down to retrieve the weapon, she opened the cylinder to replace the bullet she had used on the creature before she slipped the remaining ammo into the small pocket she had hidden in the fold of her bloody skirt. Just as she was about to turn away, something else caught her eye that was sitting in the drawer, making her stop. Sitting neatly in the drawer was a steel container that looked like something related to cosmetics and the reasons why it interested her so much was because, she honestly did not recall seeing it before. Reaching over and picking up the container, it was approximately the same size as her palm and had some weight to it, but curiously enough on the lid was engraved these words: Congratulations on your successful kill, my dear. Apply greedily to wounds. Sincerely, the Inhabitants~ Katyusha blinked at the fancy cursive confused and opened the container to find that it was filled with a sort of ointment or cream that was creamy and whitish in colour. Frowning a bit at the meaning but taking the container nevertheless, thinking of Turkey’s extensive injuries and wanting to help him anyway possible, she slipped the continuer into her pocket too and hurried back over to Sadiq, taking his arm and smiling up at him, reaching up on her tiptoes to kiss his cheek softly before she said, “Tak! Ve go!” The pair walked from the Study, leaving it bloody, disorganized, and the corpse of a mutant bird on the floor… but even before they made it down the hallway, everything in the room was back in place, as perfect as when they had entered it, and the blood and body was nowhere to be seen.
