The lantern shook. Its chain rattled aloud. The ghost trapped inside it was boiling with rage.
"Exactly."
That was all the answer she needed. Nations were above them all, existing in flesh and blood instead of shadows and smoke. Once she gained her body back, defeating them should not be a problem. Just a punch or a thousand should be enough. Poland said there were other people here too, their friends fellow nations. She would not be alone in her revenge.
“I would love to join you in that.”
She turned in a lightning speed, instantly staring into her friend's eyeless sockets. "Thank you. That is what I want to hear." He was her first ally, and more to come later. Maybe they would find several nations too on the way out. They would be thrilled to join her. Nesia grinned. Oh she could not wait to see the Inhabitants' expressions upon seeing the wrath of nations upon them.
“Four hallways, you said, I think? Which ways do they go? Do any of them look better than the others?”
But before Nesia could unleash her fury, first she and Poland must find a way to the outside. "The one on the right," came her immediate reply. "It's not too far and looks like it's a straight hallway. Its lighting is adequate for me too. The first two ended in turns, so I can not see what lies ahead in them. The third one is dark. I don't want to go there. We already have too much difficulty moving with bodies like these, let alone in the dark..."
"As far I can see, this hallway seems safe," Nesia switched her gaze between the hallways before returning to her companion. "Stretch your left hand and take five or six steps ahead. You will find a wall. Then turn to your right, keep walking. There is another table with an empty vase, so remember to avoid it."
The ghost stayed silent as Poland moved so he could focus better. As the light from their chosen hallway washed over her lantern, Nesia smiled. A genuine, kind smile without anger.
