Liam was happy to be outside for once. He knew for a fact that this place probably wasn’t any safer than the actual manor itself, but at least he had space to move should something happen. His darn fear was going to get him in trouble in this place. Liam shook his head to clear those thoughts. There was no point in getting negative or worrying about things out of his control. This place was certainly out of Liam’s control.
“How in th'world, does any place get this twisted?” Liam questioned to himself. He knew he’d never figure it out but it made him feel slightly better to ask it out loud. Liam briefly wondered why he accepted the invitation to the costume party. He hated America. However Liam was pretty sure America hadn’t been planning on all them getting trapped and lost in this place.
This was horrible. His family was separated and who knows where and facing who knows what. Liam hated feeling helpless, but that’s how he’s felt for the past 80 or so years. He really should have been used to feeling helpless by now. However Liam remembered when his was known for being a fighter and now he couldn’t bear causing others pain. It really sucked going from physically one of the strongest of his brother to the weakest in a matter of years. He really needed to stop thinking about this. All it was doing was depressing him and he had a feeling that the manor would be quick to take advantage of it.
Reaching into his pocket, Liam pulled out a gold pocket watch. Liam wasn’t even quite sure how long he had owned this watch but it was special to him. He usually kept in a special case back home, but as he was going as the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, he thought it would be a good time to wear it again. The time in the manor made it all loopy until it finally stopped. He was going to be pissed if it was broken forever.
Liam glanced around him. As safe as this place may seem, he didn’t want to be caught off guard. Who knows what will find him or show up?

Helplessness was a feeling Lili was quite familiar with. In times of trouble when even the most minimal of effort might help further a cause or solve a problem, Lili found herself lacking the kind of strength needed to get things done. Until coming to the Manor, she was never alone. She knew not exactly how much the Manor would test her mettle and her ability to adapt to the coming chaos.
The basket she held was full of flowers, all of them fake to spare her the trouble of needing to replace them during the party. Rotting flowers tended to smell just like every other decaying, organic lifeform. On top of these flowers, a freshly sharpened trowel which had never actually been used, but Lili was uncomfortable bringing her own loose belongings to a building where they might be stolen or lost. Dropping the money on something she might use in the future did not seem like a wasteful prospect, and she'd much rather lose a tool for which she held no emotion for than a tool that was sentimental in value.
This garden she was standing in was well-kept, but at the same time... overgrown and terrifying. There was nothing particularly off-putting about the garden, but that was exactly the problem. The plants that surrounded her were large, trimmed, and obviously taken care of, but the Manor supposedly was abandoned and empty, and yet the garden looked as though it was constantly tended.
If only her garden would take care of itself, but that would defeat the entire purpose of the garden, now wouldn't it?
It was a labyrinth of leaves and thorns, bird calls punctuated by the crunching of plant life under her feet... which continued even after they stood still. At that moment her hat came off - the far-reaching rim blocked her peripheral - and she stood, listening and looking with not a step made. "Hello?"
The steps continued, but they weren't as close as she thought they were. Immediately she thought there might be an animal prowling around, perhaps a wolf, or a lynx. Maybe a.... cougar! There were big cats here, too! And every animal around here would love Lili as a snack. She swallowed her fear reluctantly and took a tentative step forward to peek around the edge of a large, rectangular hedge, out into the open where she looked around desperately for a sign of oncoming danger or, better yet, an ally.
Lili quietly hoped that the hedge would shield her view from anyone who might do her harm, but that would do very little if it was an animal capable of scenting her presence. She cringed and shivered, imagining against her will a pack that would tear her apart and eat her alive. Surely it was one of the more awful ways to do and it wasn't exactly her ideal death. An animal might have heard her calling and come running and since that did not happen, she hoped and assumed that it was a human who could not hear her. She cleared her thoat and tried again, a little louder this time. "Hello..?"

Liam froze; he was almost positive that he had heard a voice. However there was no one around that Liam could see. Was his mind playing tricks on him or was there actually someone there? “Oi, is anybody out there?” He darted off through the brush, ignoring the scratches that were appearing on his legs through the holes in his pants. Liam was almost positive he heard something. Please let that something be human and not some monster.
He finally got to a row of hedges and stopped. If he kept going he was going to get lost. Whoever had originally built this garden had probably intended for it to be maze like but with years of neglect it had overgrown and now truly a labyrinth. The problem with that was Liam had nothing to cut or go through the shrubbery so he had to follow the not-so clear path.
“Hello…?” Liam was positive he heard that. It seemed to be coming from behind the hedges. Gently stepping to where the voice came from, Liam slowly looked behind the hedge. There sitting was young blonde woman who couldn’t have even been out of her teens yet. Th’ poor lass, she must be terrified.
No matter what Liam did, most people who met him were afraid of him. This was because of the fact that his accent made his speech rather aggressive. It was why he always tried to keep his face kind and peaceful, so it would contrast against his voice. As they say, “90% of all communication is nonverbal.” He couldn’t do much about his tone but he could keep his body language at ease.
He gently approached the terrified teen, like one would approach an injured animal, slow and calmly. “It’s alright. Ah’m not goin’ ta hurt ye.” The thought of the girl being some sort of trap never crossed Liam’s mind. Nobody, not even the greatest actor in the world, could act that well. The look of somebody feeling helpless and scared was hard to imitate unless you had been there. How long had she been alone in this twisted place?
Liam had a soft spot for children and this girl was small enough to pass for a child. Plus he was tired of being alone for the moment. “My name is Liam. What’s yers?” For some reason Liam didn’t think this was a very good place to be at the moment. His instincts had never failed him before and he learned a long time ago that listening was a good idea. “Come on, we need to get out of here. “ Liam held out his hand for her, he hoped she would hurry and grab it. For some reason the bad feeling wasn’t going away and Liam didn’t want to be here to find out what it was. “Ah know yer scared, but we can’t stay here. It’s dangerous. You have no reason to trust me, but Ah promise Ah will keep ye safe.” Liam hoped he got through to her or he would have move her without her permission.

She'd barely heard the Irishman reply by the time she attempted her second calling. As Lili peeked her head around the wall of hedges and saw the man beyond the leaves, coming towards her, she nearly froze. He looked unarmed, seemingly harmless. No one she knew, though, and that was enough to make her nervous. It already felt like she'd been searching the establishment for damn near an eternity, but in reality she had absolutely no idea how much time had passed since she woke up, since she last slept or ate. There was absolutely no way to keep track of anything anymore, the way the changes in the flow of time were subtle enough to make them only noticeable later when one would look out the window and realize in only a few minutes, the trip from one room to another had completely changed the color of the perceived sky.
But now came the challenge of figuring out who he was before he came close enough to touch her. The way he spoke... United Kingdom, maybe Ireland. One of those countries, but she wasn't sure which. Definitely not English, though. Definitely not. She could identify England by now, and that red hair was most assuredly not his. It didn't answer her question, however. Who was he? Nonetheless, a friendly face was always welcome, and he looked friendly enough.
“It’s alright. Ah’m not goin’ ta hurt ye.”
Lili's head lowered and she looked to the side, the back at the hedge, carefully removing herself from the pathway and into view.
"I'd almost find that hard to believe, all things considered." She laughed a little, but he spoke with sincerity... that was enough for her. She needed the company. Lili was constantly alone and at this point she'd take all she could get. the man introduced himself as Liam, and Lili forced a nervous smile.
"I'm Lili-- Liechtenstein. You know where that is, right?" Most people didn't. She'd be genuinely surprised if he'd heard of her.
There was no time for pleasantries. A noise elsewhere pulled her attention from Liam. It seemed to have triggered something in him as well, for he grabbed her hand tightly and began to tug her away.
“Come on, we need to get out of here. Ah know yer scared, but we can’t stay here. It’s dangerous. You have no reason to trust me, but Ah promise Ah will keep ye safe.”
She was still in the middle of trying to locate her brother. She'd just managed to find her way back outside, only to realize that even the outdoors were locked away from the rest of the world. Was Vash even in the building?
"Wait--!" She dug her heels into the ground, pulling her basket closer. "Have you see my brother since you've been here? He's a little taller than me. Switzerland. We got separated at the party and..."
She was worried. So worried...
"I don't like the way this place feels. I'm scared something's happened to him."
