Full Name: Beatrice, Lisette, Claudia, and Marie
Nickname: The Deadly Dolls
Age: Unknown
Height: 12" - 5'6"
Gender: Females
Origins: Back when the Manor was still peaceful, these four young women were maid servants of the Madame. Each one had different tasks placed upon them in their respective jobs. Beatrice was a gifted seamstress that could create fine, fashionable garments for the household. Lisette cooked confections to delight the family and her cooking was famous around the area. Claudia was a dutiful laundress that made sure the family always looked their best and prided herself on perfectly folded corners. Marie was Lisette's assistant in the kitchen, primarily in charge of the dishwashing once the family's dinners were done.
The girls were young, all of them pretty in their own way. Despite being hardworking servants they had no complaints. The four of them were cheerful, with all the promise of their lives ahead of them.
Until the day came when the Madame started to suspect that the girls were seeking to take her place. Believing that Claudia was carrying on a secret affair with the Master, she attacked the girl, drowning her in the large sudsy vat that even then had the family's finery soaking within. Beatrice, Lisette and Marie were locked into their room in the servant's quarters. When it did not seem the Madame intended to let them out before they starved to death, the women took a drastic step towards freedom -- from the third story.
Dead in the prime of their youth and beauty, as the evil of the Manor began to spread, it brought back the souls of the unfortunate four. As dolls, pretty enough to please the Madame. They were carted about the place by the maddened denizens of the Manor, put into new locations to watch the world with glassy eyes and painted faces. When newcomers entered into the home they occasionally stumbled across these silent witnesses.
Present: Of course nothing in the Manor remains beautiful for long. As time progressed, the dolls began to turn twisted as well in how they looked. Not only did they warp with the influence of the darkness that took over the Manor -- the dolls had a tendency to turn up in unexpected places. Those who came stumbling in almost swore that those dolls moved on their own without anyone's help. Little did they know until it was too late that this was precisely what happened. The dolls had taken on a life of their own.
No one would ever believe that a doll could really cause that much harm, right? Oh, how wrong they were. Because the secret of these dolls was their ability to twist into a larger, humanoid form -- to better exact revenge upon people in their afterlife anger. People tend to turn their backs on things that seem harmless. Until the moment that the real evil rears its head and it is too late.
The Deadly Dolls are efficient killers. Their transformation from doll form to human form increases their lethality. They are puppets of the Manor possessed by the wickedest of spirits. When glimpsed, their movements are much like those of a marionette, limbs jerky and bodies prone to spasming. The worst part of it is that the Dolls only tend to move when there are no lights or when their intended victim's back is turned. That is when they are at their deadliest.
Weaknesses: If they are found in their doll bodies, they can be burnt up. This does not guarantee that the spirit inside the dolls will disappear. In fact, they may try to possess whatever other vessel might be handy.
The Dolls do not move when being directly looked at. This means that if someone keeps their eyes upon them they are less likely to attack. Pairs or more of people have a better chance of avoiding the Dolls this way.
It is possible to remove the limbs of the Dolls if one can get around their lethal attacks. Lisette favors knives. Beatrice, two pairs of sharp shears. Claudia drowns her victims with a touch without needing to have them in water. And Marie loves to break limbs until there are no bones left. So only the bravest should seek to use that method of stopping the Dolls when they attack.
Safety in Numbers: The Dolls rarely attack in combination. It is more likely that only one will be encountered at a time. Those that travel in groups may have better chances handling a Doll in a combat situation.
